Two-year-old Pola Betkier, from Kluczbork, suffers from Rett Syndrome. This is a neurological disease that is genetically determined.
A huge opportunity for Poli is the world's first drug in syrup form, which slows down the progression of the disease. It won't cure it completely, but it will give Poli valuable time and the opportunity to stop the loss of skills she's gained and prepare for the
gene therapy, which is already at an advanced stage of clinical trials in the United States. Every day without the drug is a risk of losing further abilities - which is why it is so important that Pola can receive it as soon as possible.
The aim of the auction is to help with the 3-year purchase of unreimbursed medicine, treatment, rehabilitation and the purchase of medical equipment.
